Officials with Hendry County Emergency Management have discontinued voluntary evacuations as of Tuesday afternoon. They say they are continuing to monitor the storm and will notify the public of any changes.

Last week, HCEM encouraged residents to voluntarily evacuate as of Friday afternoon.

They say anyone living in low-lying, flood prone areas as well as those living in RVs or mobile homes should consider evacuating to a safer structure.

If you decide to evacuate, you’re encouraged to go tens of miles away from your current location to secure homes of family members or friends no later than Saturday evening.

Ahead of the storm, all residents are strongly encouraged to prepare their families and property for potential impacts as early as Sunday morning.

Residents are also asked to secure any loose items that could become flying debris, like patio furniture, or block drainage pipes.

Residents should also make sure to have a seven-day supply of water and food.

If you have any concerns, you can call the Emergency Management Call Center at 863-674-5400 or visit their website.
