The next phase to hook up Cape Coral homes to city water and sewer is beginning in the Cape.

If you live in the area in between Santa Barbra Boulevard and Corbett Road, this will affect you and it will cost thousands. Neighbors in the area say they are frustrated with the process so far.

For month cones have been setup along where the project will be, and roads have been torn up…many feel like the process is never ending.

“We’d like to get the work done but also at the same time the roads are just awful and like you said it just tears up everything,” said Lynn Martin of Cape Coral.

“I don’t know…here they say the end of the year but that’s what they said last year so it’s like never ending,” Martin said.

Martin told WINK News she is tired of driving on the rocky roads, and says the whole area is a constant mess, and it’s also dangerous.

But as work continues in her neighborhood, North 1 is getting ready for construction. The proposed project there will be about 4.3 square miles, and construction is expected to take 2 years.

Homeowners and neighbors are not looking forward to it starting.

“What I’ve seen in adjacent neighborhoods it’s just a mess, it’s rainy and it’s wet…cars are all getting dirty in the neighborhood and it’s been a long time project so I wish they would move a little quicker with it,” said Milford Neal, a Cape Coral resident.

Construction on the project is expected to go from 2020 – 2022.
