Four days after Gov. Ron DeSantis was in Lee County to announce his request of the federal government for reimbursement funds to use for Hurricane Irma expenses, the president has answered.

Office of the Press Secretary reports President Donald Trump made disaster funds available to Florida by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding for public assistance due to the effects of Hurricane Irma in 2017.

According to the press release, “Under the president’s order today, the federal share for public assistance has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs, except assistance previously approved at 100 percent.”
