High school football players were back under the Friday night lights for a brand-new season across Southwest Florida. For Lee County, this comes after all regular season football games in the county were in jeopardy amid an FHSAA referee pay dispute. But things are back on track, and we are back on the field bringing you the latest.

Game of the Week: Cape Coral High School football team fell in its regular season home opener to North Fort Myers High School Friday, 45-7.

Cape Seahawks knew they would face a Red Knights squad that went further than any team in Lee County last season.

One of the focuses was on Red Knights quarterback Parker Odell who took the field against his former team.

“Nervous, excited,” Odell said.”First game of the year against my old team. It’s just another game, but it’s just gonna be a physical game like always.”

Meanwhile, Cape Coral head coach Dale More gets debuted his new two-quarterback system Friday with Isiah Graham and Duncan Smith.
