“I was very nervous,” Durante said, “because this is my aunts, my mother sister, she’s 85 years old.”

Durante told WINK News the woman who died was her aunt’s best friend of nearly a decade. Fire crews rushed into a third-floor condo on Regal Heron Circle at Blue Heron Condominiums. They found the victim and a cat inside.

While the crews tried to revive her, she was sent to the hospital and died.

One unnamed victim was rescued and transported to Physicians Regional Hospital where they died.

Sprinklers were activated, which prevented the fire from spreading and saved the building, preventing tragedy.

A death investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Durante’s aunt is also cleaning up Wednesday evening. The sprinklers that went off have created a mess in several condominiums.
