WESH in Orlando reports a photographer in Altamonte Springs wants to get people talking photos about photos he took that look like back-to-school fashion ads of kids wearing bulletproof vests.

Photographer Richard Johnson said he hopes images of kids wearing tactical vests evoke real feelings and reactions.

“If you don’t like them, do something about them,” Johnson told WESH. “Make these photos irrelevant.”

Johnson said his only goal was to cause the start of real conversations. He said the photos are about kids being shot in schools and trying to prevent that from happening.

Some of the models in the pictures are Johnson’s children. He said his kids go through active shooter drills at their school. And he said when he was growing up these types of things didn’t happen.

“This is not pro-gun. This is not anti-gun,” Johnson said. “This is anti-children getting shot at school.”
