According to Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was with her parent while she was riding her bike to school on the sidewalk. The incident happened on Beaver Lane, a few hundred feet north of the school.

The car was pulling out of the parking lot of an apartment complex and stopped, blocking the part of the sidewalk that intersects with the driveway. Deputies say when the car started moving, the child on the bike was hit.

The car stopped immediately to check on the victim. The girl is recovering from minor injuries to her leg.
