Hundreds of people in our area will not go hungry this week thanks to the generosity of one Cape Coral woman.

The event, outside of the Southwest Florida Military Museum earlier on Friday, had free dental care in the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Also, the Midwest Food Bank helped pack boxes full of food for families in need.

The event had financial backing by Dr. Carol Rae Culliton and her Gunterberg Foundation. Culliton said she plans to sponsor events like this each month to help her neighbors in need.

Recipients found an overwhelming amount of support for some visitors leaving with full hands and hearts.

“I was just like, ‘hey everybody. If you need food, there’s food down the street at the military museum,'” Joseph Benitez said. “Like that’s probably half my meals right there for two weeks. People should never be hungry.

“Kids are going to school now,” Benitez said, “and they need to eat to be able to do well in school.”
