Cape Coral police confirm three armed robberies connected, two detained

A crime spree whips through Cape Coral coming to a wild end in North Fort Fort Myers.

The Cape Coral Police Department has confirmed two subjects have been detained at a Motel 6 in North Fort Myers in connection to three armed robberies in Lee County Friday.

The Motel 6 on North Key Drive off North Cleveland Avenue is where a WINK News reporter on the scene and saw one person put into handcuffs and questioned.

Cape Coral police responded to the scene of two separate robberies along Del Prado Boulevard this morning, one at a 7-Eleven gas station and another at an Achieva Bank ATM near Walmart.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a third robbery at a Mobil Gas station at the intersection of Hancock Bridge Parkway and Orange Grove Blvd.

A woman says she was at the Achieva bank ATM, when a man wearing a mask approached her pointing a gun. demanding cash. The man, for an unknown reason, left without getting any money.

Police say, the suspect fled the bank parking lot and went to a 7-Eleven gas station down the road and did the same thing. A victim handed over their wallet to the suspect. After that he entered the gas station and pointed his gun at the clerk and demanded money but the clerk refused.

The suspect fired his gun then fled the scene.

Police say there were no injuries during the robberies.

The investigation continues.
