The Sarasota County School District is making changes to a school bus route in North Port due to the proximity of a registered sex offender near the bus stop.

The changes apply to students who live at the corner of South Salford Blvd. and Allure Lane. They will have a new bus stop. According to Sarasota County Schools, the revision in routing may affect students attending Cranberry Elementary, Heron Creek Middle School and North Port High School.

While the students will have a new bus stop, the pickup and dropoff times will “remain similar without delays,” Sarasota County Schools said in a press release. The Sarasota County Schools Transportation Department is in the process of notifying families with the new location before school begins on Monday.
