The Army Corps of Engineers faces another lawsuit over it’s handling of water in Southwest Florida.

U.S. Sugar is jumping into the mix, claiming the Army Corps ignored its own policies on lake Okeechobee. In a press release the company says the water releases from Lake O are unprecedented and they’ve put the lake at risk.

This year, the Corps released more water than usual during the dry season to prevent large releases over the summer.

The Army Corps has not responded to WINK News on the specific lawsuit, but said they strive to manage the lake level to meet multiple purposes.
