A Cape Coral man has died from his injuries stemming from a crash last week.

Solomon J. Barrett, 35, was moving west in a Toyota FRS on Kismet Pkwy W in the inside lane approaching the intersection of NW 19th Court on July 16. Mijail E. Belilla Cruceta, 35, was driving in a Mazda Protégé.

As the intersection, the Toyota did not yield the right of way. It turned left onto NW 19th Ct. when the Mazda propelled into it in a T-bone crash, per the Cape Coral Police Dept. press release.

The Toyota rotated counter-clockwise, stopping east off of the roadway on the southeast corner of the intersection. The Mazda rotated clockwise. It stopped east outside lane of Kismet Pkwy W.

Barrett was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, which at the time were not thought to be life-threatening, per the release. Barrett died at the hospital on Tuesday. The Medical Examiner’s office said Barrett died as a result of complications from injuries he suffered in the traffic crash.

Cruceta was also taken to a local hospital.

Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
