To keep your kids safe, the Lee County School District is putting together a $2-million plan to combat mental health issues.

One of the newest additions to the new plan is partnership with a local company who specializes in mobile crisis units, called Center for Program and Excellence.

“Over the last 10 or so years, we’ve seen a lot of issues with crisis that escalate to sometimes life threatening situations so our job is as soon as a school calls us we go out and we help whatever counselor they have there, said CEO of Center for Program and Excellence.

CPM is 24 hour service for the school district, meaning that anytime a situation arises with a Lee County School student, staff can call the center and within an hour a care specialist and a therapist will be inside the school to calm down a situation.

After assessing the situation with the student involved, the CPE will work with the family to find a behavioral provider like Salus Care, which first partnered with the school district in December.

Both CPE and Salus Care say they perform frequent check-ins with students and families they help out to make sure the services they’re receiving are free.
