Authorities remove more than 40 puppies, cats from a Lehigh Acres home

An animal neglect bust in Lehigh Acres.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies confirm dozens of pets living in poor conditions in a Lehigh Acres home. One by one, they are bringing these small dogs out of the house. The sheriff’s office said 28 dogs and 13 cats were inside.

The suspect, Luuly Quang, 62, faces 28 counts of Conservation-Animals Torment, Deprive, Mutilate or Kill and one count of Resisting Officer without violence.

LCSO responded to the home around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday for a well-being check at the house located on 6100 block of Higgins Ave. in Fort Myers.

Once there, deputies discovered multiple dogs in distress, living in deplorable conditions and appeared to be covered in urine and feces. After Central District Detectives executed a search warrant, the deputies rescued the animals.

Neighbors said they have seen animal services come out of this home before. One of them said he had no idea they were there but is not surprised about how many animals the woman had.

“It’s crazy,” Jason Cook said. “I mean, you wouldn’t even know it. If she keeps them inside, how you supposed to know. You hear dogs barking. It is what it is, you know, it’s a neighborhood, I have dogs.”

Quang was released from jail on a $43K bond. Her next court date is July 2.

The animals will be taken to Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
