Fort Myers man sentenced to life in prison for murder of girlfriend

A Fort Myers man that held police to a 45-minute standoff after stabbing his then-girlfriend to death in 2017 has been sentenced to life in prison Thursday.

The 20th Circuit of Florida ruled Freddie Harris, 51, guilty by a jury of second-degree murder, child abuse, and two counts of assault on LEO.

Officers found the victim, Chantill Harrison, 39, with several stab wounds on Nov 14, 2017, inside a home near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Towles St. in Fort Myers.

Harris was arrested following a 45-minute standoff, according to police. Harrison and Harris had a child together.
