On Tuesday, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found a dead dolphin stranded on Fort Myers Beach.

FWC found various items, including a plastic bag and a piece of balloon, in the stomach of the dead dolphin during a necropsy, an animal autopsy. FWC is still waiting for lab results to determine the dolphin’s cause of death.

FWC is asking the public to limit use of plastic bags and balloons on the beach before another animal is stranded or sick.

Currently, there is a ban on plastic straws on Fort Myers Beach.

There is also a push to encourage people to utilize reusable bags instead of plastic.
