Deputies and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were in-and-out of what neighbors call a calm Estero apartment complex.

The FBI confirms that agents, along with Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant Thursday. For several hours there was a lot of commotion and emotion. Now, all is quiet, but some people are still unsettled.

The FBI does not announce when it is coming to serve a search warrant. To the frustration of people living in the Coastal Village Apartments and their neighbors living along Three Oaks Pkwy, federal agents do not answer many questions either.

“I’m a little surprised,” said Aaron Slodnick, a neighbor, “because nothing has ever happened in ten years.”

“I have no idea,” said Matt Colla, a neighbor. “I couldn’t even speculate I don’t know. Hopefully, it’s something that they take care of quickly.”

The two men said they have never seen anything like what they saw Thursday morning with FBI agents and Lee County deputies swarming through the apartment complex. Deputies drove in and out until they cleared afternoon.

Slodnick can only wonder what happened.

“It’s either probably drugs, although I don’t think the FBI would be three or somebody has written a terrorist letter or called for something that is terrorists or whatever,” Slodnick said.

Coastal Village Apartments declined to comment.

Colla said he needs answers so that he can rest easy.

“I have three kids and like I said this is a quiet, safe neighborhood,” Colla said. “I wouldn’t want to think it’s happening right here across the street from me.”
