Police arrest the suspect in a shooting of a 68-year-old man

A suspected gunman who shot a person Friday has been arrested.

The suspect, Markqueon Pearson, 21, faces charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.

The shooting took place at 2000 block of Fountain St. in Fort Myers.

After the 68-year-old victim was shot, Fort Myers Police Dept. S.W.A.T. team and Lee County Sheriff’s Office secured the area, clearing a nearby boarding house and searching the tenant’s rooms, according to the FMPD press release. Security video identified Pearson as the suspected attacker.

The victim has been released from the hospital.

Pearson is in Lee County Jail.
