A former Lee County substitute bus driver was fired from his job after he was arrested for exposing himself to a minor while face timing on a phone app.

On Friday, April 5, Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Garth Dale Simon, 38, for committing a sex crime toward an underage victim.

According to the LCSO arrest report, the victim told deputies, Simon had sent inappropriate images of himself to them. Simon admitted to deputies the victim had seen him nude but said it was an accident. At that point, deputies detained Simon.

During further investigation, deputies were told the victim had seen Simon nude during a video chat using the app WhatsApp on a cell phone. Detectives took the victim’s phone for evidence.

After further interviews with the victim and Simon, deputies found probably cause to arrest Simon, who faces a charge for Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition (Offender 18 or older and victim less than 16 years old).

According to LCSO, Simon was immediately fired from his job with Lee County Public Schools when he was arrested. The victim involved is not a student.

Simon is in Lee County Jail with a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at the beginning of May.
