A former preschool worker was arrested Wednesday, suspected of having more than 50 images and 23 videos of child pornography on his laptop.

Skyler Hann, 20, faces a Felony Possession of Child Pornography charge.

Hann’s roommate borrowed his laptop to complete a school project. When the person retrieved documents from a downloaded folder, they found videos with captions, thumbnails and titles indicating it was child pornography, according to the Cape Coral Police Dept. arrest report. Disgusted, the roommate contacted police.

After a Judge granted a search warrant to police, they confiscated two of Hann’s laptops at his home.

As police were leaving the house with the evidence, Hann arrived in the driveway, per the arrest report. Police asked him for his cellphone and he gave it to them. Hann told detectives he started looking at child porn when he was a teenager.

Later on, detectives looked at the files on the laptops. There were over 50 images under pictures of files depicting child pornography, per the arrest report. Twenty-three videos showed children engaging in sex acts.

Hann previously worked at Small Wonders Preschool / Grace Good Day after school program, which are both under Grace Church in Cape Coral from May to December of last year. He also worked at William Austen Youth Center from April 2017 to April 2018, both in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral spokeswoman Maureen Buice said Hann’s employment was terminated at the William Austen Youth Center after he made inappropriate comments to female employees.

Grace Church said in a statement: “After numerous interviews with our staff, we have no reason to believe these safeguards were not followed and there were no incidents of compromise affecting our children during the time Mr. Hahn was employed.

Officials at Small Wonders analyzed their computers and did not find anything.

“We are deeply saddened by this news and we will pray for everyone involved,” Small Wonders said.

Hann was transported to Lee County Jail and has since been released on $10,000 bond.

Full statement from Grace Church:

Last night, a former employee of Small Wonders and Grace Good Day, Skylar Hahn, was arrested on suspicion of possessing obscene material. Mr. Hahn was employed from May 2018 to December 2018 at Small Wonders and Grace Good Day and successfully completed all background checks and certifications through DCF before he was employed. Mr. Hahn resigned in December, 2018. Small Wonders and Grace Good Day consider the safety, protection and care of our children to be of highest importance. We have a comprehensive Child and Youth Protection policy in place. All staff must go through a detailed screening process, which includes a thorough interview, verification of references and a criminal background check. Additionally, Small Wonders and Grace Good Day policy requires two adults to be present at all times with children in our care. After numerous interviews with our staff, we have no reason to believe these safeguards were not followed and there were no incidents of compromise affecting our children during the time Mr. Hahn was employed.

We have been cooperating with police throughout their investigation prior to Mr. Hahn’s arrest. In an abundance of caution, on March 27, 2019 the Florida Conference of United Methodist Church contracted with a forensic computer evidence service company to conduct an analysis of all the computers of Small Wonders and Grace Good Day and their report stated that “After extensively reviewing the artifacts of each computer, it was determined that the computers are used solely as they were intended, for Church business and educational purposes only.”

We are deeply saddened by this news, and we will pray for everyone involved.
