1 arrested, 1 detained after shooting near Island Coast High School

One man has been detained, and one man has been arrested by police after one shot the other Thursday, according to police.

Island Coast High School went on brief lockdown after a report of a shooting near campus on the 2100 block of De Nevarra Parkway.

All outside activities were canceled during the lockdown, and the students were brought indoors on the school’s campus.

One of the men was arrested on charges unrelated to the shooting. The man injured in the shooting was shot in the hand, police said. It is not confirmed which man was detained and which was arrested at this time.

Police say there will be an increased presence in the area for an undetermined amount of time, and all parties have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

There is no danger to the public according to CCPD.
