Police identify motorcyclist killed in Cape Coral crash

On Friday, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a semi-truck in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Police Department confirmed, Saturday, Brandon William Bolen, 24, died in a crash.

The crash happened at the intersection of NE 10th Terrace and Del Prado Boulevard N.

According to the CCPD press release, Bolen was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Del Prado in the center lane approaching the intersection with NE 10th Ter. The driver of a semi-truck carrying seven other vehicles was traveling westbound on NE 10 Ter. and stopped at the stop sign, waiting to turn left at the intersection with Del Prado.

According to CCPD, the driver of the semi-truck told police he did not see any oncoming traffic on Del Prado, and he started to make a left turn, crossing over the northbound lanes of the intersection. Bolen was traveling northbound on Del Prado when the semi-truck was in his path.

According to CCPD, the motorcycle braked heavily but did not stop in time and hit the side of the semi-truck. Bolen was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver in the semi-truck was not injured.

According to CCPD, witnesses told police Bolen was speeding, and witnesses said the truck driver would have had plenty of time to make a left turn had Bolen been obeying the speed limit.
