Dogs are attacking people in the state. It’s happening locally, and it’s not uncommon in Florida.

People told us they have even seen dogs at Pooch Park in North Fort Myers become aggressive.

According to a new survey by State Farm, Florida is No. 2 in the U.S. for dog bite injuries.

”All it takes is one bad bite,” Paul Moto said. “and then he’s going to bite that kid. And if it’s five and under, it’s going to be as serious bite.”

A pit bull reportedly attacked a fifth-grade student coming home from school in Belle Glade recently. The dog chased the boy and bit him at least 10 times in his face.

Just days ago, a Cape Coral family’s dog also bit a child in the face. Police said the child needed 31 stitches.

Insurance companies said, to protect yourself from getting bit, always ask an owner first to pet their dog, and be gentle. Never disturb a dog while it’s eating or pull on its tail. Don’t try to outrun a dog because you may lose.
