Live in paradise on a discount in Charlotte County

Living next to paradise is affordable in Southwest Florida similar to the sunset views one would find in Key West.

Travis Webster moved to Charlotte County to spend days like today outside. He is finishing up his work while enjoying the warm, spring air at Ann Dever Park.

“The beaches are beautiful: the parks are beautiful,” Webster said. “That’s why I am sitting out here today.”

It is not just the parks and beaches that bring people to Charlotte County. It is also the rivers and canals. A person can have a piece of paradise right in their backyard, without having to pay exorbitant amounts.

Shannon Moore, a real estate broker, said many buyers are surprised to learn waterfront properties are affordable in Port Charlotte. It is why her business chose Charlotte County’s South Gulf Cove Community for its new Key West style properties, which will be priced around $200,000.

“A lot of people don’t think that they can afford a waterfront home and then they come here and they discovered that they can,” Moore said.

Real estate site Zillow can compare waterfront properties in Charlotte County to similar land throughout the area. A quarter acre piece of land along a canal lists for $40,000 in a developing part of Charlotte County.

A similar sized canal front property in south Fort Myers sells for $250,000 with an even higher price tag in Naples.

Missouri native Webster said it is only fair to spill Southwest Florida’s best-kept secret. Giving visitors another reason why they should one day call Florida their home.

“I’d recommend it to anybody in the world,” Webster said.
