The School District of Lee County said it’s crafting a plan to ensure all students get to and from the bus stop safely. The first step is to partner with Lee County and county municipalities.

School board members said they will start by scheduling a meeting to determine how they can help with improving roadway safety.

“I think with improvements in light and sidewalks, I certainly think that will go a long way in making our students more safe,” Superintendent Greg Adkins said.

Adkins and a majority of the school board told us they are willing to help pay for proposed improvements, but it’s going to take a lot of teamwork to get something done.
