A recently published study shows falling is the most common recurring dream. Second is being chased. Yet surprising, winning the lottery was all the way at 18. While that may be for most days of the year, it is not for today.

Many people are dreaming about having that winning tickets. For someone, dreams will come true because there will be a winner in the Powerball drawing Wednesday evening. If not tonight, in another upcoming drawing.

“I just hope I can win today and to prove to my community that I can give back,” said Merita Rowe, who recently purchased her ticket.

Dr. Terence Leary, assistant professor of Psychology at Florida Gulf Coast University, believes people play the lottery because most dream they have a realistic chance of winning.

“The statistical odds are so strong against winning a lottery ticket that it’s not high on most people’s list,” Leary said.

But the dream is soaring to the top of many people’s list today because we have the same statistical chance of winning.

“I had three out of the last one,” Rowe said. “Hoping I get the others, so let me win something.”
