Driver in DUI crash sentenced after accepting plea deal

Thomas Allen Hinson Jr., 32, accepted a plea agreement in Lee County Court, where he pled guilty to DUI with Serious Bodily Injury.

Hinson was sentenced to 2 years in Department of Corrections, followed by 3 years of probation, a one year driver’s license suspension, and the associated fines and fees.

Hinson was taken into custody immediately after the plea.

On March 5, 2018 Cape Coral Police officers responded to a three vehicle crash at the 2100 block of Hancock Bridge Parkway in North Fort Myers.

Two of the drivers, including Thomas Hinson, Jr. were taken to the hospital.

At that time, Hinson was determined to be impaired, and a warrant for a blood draw was obtained and served, where re registered a BAC of 0.125 percent.

Hinson was contacted and turned himself in to Cape Coral Police.
