A Florida dad is accused of killing his 7-week-old daughter.

Gianna Suffoletto died at a Tampa hospital on Tuesday, after doctors found multiple, severe internal injuries.

Anthony Suffoletto is being held without bond at the Pinellas County Jail.

Largo police describe a violent thrashing at the family home back on Feb. 28.

On a dead-end street, in an apartment on South Pines Drive, Largo police arrest paperwork spells out a series of events that led to the death of 7-week-old Gianna.

Left alone with the baby while her mother picked up an older sibling, Anthony Suffoletto maintains he awoke to the baby making moaning and making gasping noises.

He took her upstairs, splashed water on her and called Ashley, the baby’s mom.

But when Ashley arrived at the apartment, horror set in.

Gianna wasn’t breathing.

Ashley called 911.

After an ambulance ride to one hospital and a chopper ride to another, six days later, Gianna died.

“Anthony Suffoletto is in disbelief that he’s being arrested,” said his attorney, Lucas Fleming.

Suffoletto told his attorney he didn’t do anything to the baby.

Fleming said Gianna had a history of breathing problems.

“It’s a very difficult [time] for him. He can’t really grieve for the loss of his daughter now. He’s in custody. And he’s not with the mother of the child. It’s a very difficult time for them, unfortunately,” said Fleming.

But doctors say Gianna had broken ribs, broken bones in her legs, and internal bleeding.

Fleming says his client is not responsible.

“Very surprising what happened to this child, in terms of what they say happened, attributing it to him. He denies any type of behavior that would lead to these injuries,” he said.

Suffoletto is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

The City of Clearwater is in the process of firing him from his wastewater department job.
