Bicyclist killed in crash on Bonita Beach Road

A bicyclist was killed in a crash with a car in Bonita Springs.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Robert Thomas Miniger, 65, died in a crash on Bonita Beach Road Southwest west of Imperial Shores Boulevard in Bonita Springs Monday.

According to the report, a driver in a 2012 Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on Beach Rd. west of Imperial alongside a driver in a 1992 Cheverolet C/K 1500. Miniger was riding his bike eastbound on the roadway south of both driver’s vehicles.

According to the report, the driver in the Honda was in the left lane and went to change into the right lane. The Honda cut off the driver of the Chevy and hit the front of it, causing the Honda to swerve toward the south curb of the road, hitting Miniger on his bike and then hitting a tree to come to a stop.

Miniger was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else involved in the crash were reported injured.
