The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking a person of interest in connection to a November fatal hit-and-run crash. On November 28, a 2004 Mercury SUV was heading east on Lake Trafford Road while Margarita Gonzalez, 71, of Immokalee, was in the same lane west of Krystal Lane. FHP says the front of the Mercury struck Gonzalez who sustained a fatal injury from the impact. The Mercury fled the scene but was later located and impounded from a nearby address. A criminal traffic homicide investigation identified of a person of interest, Apolinar Perez Vasquez, 29. He is described as 5′ 6” to 5′ 8” with a dark complexion and is known to frequent the Fresh Market area.
