How to avoid overpaying for medicine when you have the flu

No one likes being sick, but it’s usually unavoidable. What is avoidable? Overpaying.

Here are some ways to reduce cold and flu costs:

Use price comparison web sites like rxsaver.com and goodrx.com to check prices.
After entering the prescription and a zip code, the site will list stores that carry the product along with its prices.

Look for coupons on the manufacturer’s website. For example, Alka-Seltzer and Theraflu have coupons ready to print.

Check your inventory.

Know what you already have, what the active ingredients do and that they’re not expired.
Also talk to your doctor about buying generic. Avoiding name brands can save you a few bucks.
