A new alert system being implemented by Collier County will warn users of everything from severe weather to evacuations, sending an alert straight to your mobile devices among other ways.

Collier County has launched ‘Alert Collier’ which utilizes the Everbridge alert system, the same system Charlotte County currently uses.

Alert Collier work by allowing emergency services to send alerts through multiple mobile devices, whether it be a landline, cell phone, or a computer straight to your email.

Even people hearing impaired will be able to receive the alert.

The messages will provide two different bits of information, first is tell you what emergency event is going on, and second is to tell you how to stay safe.

The system is going to be an opt-in alert system which means you have to sign up for the emergency notification.

Lee County subscribes to the CodeRED system.
