Cape Coral man arrested for possession of child pornography

A Cape Coral man was arrested for being in possession of child pornography.

Randy Wayne Carlson, 68, was transferred from Kentucky to the Lee County Jail on Jan. 18.

On Aug. 9, 2018, Detective N. Malone with Cape Coral Police Department received an anonymous tip that Carlson was in possession of child pornography.

Det. Malone immediately began his investigation and upon the return of his subpoena request, the information he obtained from the investigation determined Carlson was indeed in possession of child pornography.

Malone completed a warrant request and submitted it to the state attorney’s office for approval.

During this time, Malone had gained information that Carlson had fled to Kentucky in an attempt avoid arrest.

The warrant was approved, and the United States Marshals Service located and arrested Carlson in Kentucky on Dec. 27, 2018.

Internet Crimes Against Children provided the tip to Malone.

Carlson faces the charge Possession of Child Pornography.
