A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash off State Road 776 and Newcomb Road in Port Charlotte Saturday.

Robert Robertson, 68, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital after suffering severe injuries in a crash.

Kristen Holmberg, 64, was driving eastbound on SR 776 west of Newcomb Rd in the outside lane. Robertson was traveling on the same path on the inside lane.

According to the report, both vehicles were next to each other.

Holmberg changed lanes in her car and hit Robertson’s motorcycle, who was unable to maintain control and began to overturn, which put him on his side and into the outside lane of SR 776 east of Newcomb Rd.

Holmberg made a controlled stop in a parking lot on El Jobean Road (SR 776).
