A Placida woman died after a three-vehicle collision in Punta Gorda on Friday morning.

Sandra Lee Kemper, 68, was pronounced dead following a medical episode leading to a crash at County Road 765 and U.S. 41. The two other drivers did not have any injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.

Kemper was driving a 2002 Lexus ES300 north on CR-765 at Jacaranda Blvd. in the right lane approaching U.S. 41 facing a red light traffic signal.

A second vehicle, a 2006 Honda Accord, was driven by Yuriy Tabakov, 20, and was moving south on CR-765 in the left turn lane as he approached U.S. 41 while facing a green turning arrow traffic signal.

A third vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Prius, was stopped at a red traffic signal in the westbound left lane of U.S. 41 at the intersection of CR-765 with Laura Robinson, 75, in the driving seat.

The Lexus proceeded past the red traffic signal, coming into the path of the Honda and collided into it, according to a FHP press release. Both vehicles rotated clockwise from the collision, moving into the westbound lanes of U.S. 41.

The Lexus then hit the Prius as it was rotating, per the press release. The Prius moved into the left westbound lane of U.S. 41 before coming to a stop. The Lexus came to a halt at the westbound right turn lanes of U.S. 41.

The crash is currently under investigation by FHP.
