A woman tried to lure children while posing as a crossing guard. A good Samaritan saw what was happening and stopped the suspect from potentially kidnapping them.

Fort Myers Police Department issued the alert of a suspect who tried to coax a brother and sister at the intersection of Superior Street and East Riverside Drive in Fort Myers Friday.

Police said the suspect told kids she could give them a ride to school.

The mother of the good Samaritan said her daughter was at the right place at the right time and was able to stop the suspect from luring the children into a car.

Edgewood Renaissance Academy is a few blocks away from the intersection, but it is not confirmed if that was the location the children were heading to when they encountered the suspect.

“It’s a perfect example that you can’t trust people,” Genesis Bravini said.

Woman suspect description:

  • Thin, black woman
  • Short, straight black hair
  • Small facial features
  • Car: four-door, silver or gold, late model with peeling window tint.
