Companies offer assistance to federal workers furloughed during shutdown

The partial government shutdown is now the longest in history, and that means government workers and contractors hired by the government still aren’t getting paid.

So how are families supposed to pay the bills without a paycheck?

Some companies are coming forward to assist the nearly 800,000 federal employees affected.

Here’s some companies offering some form of assistance.

Also, in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties you can call the United Way Helpline at 211, to see what is available in terms of utility, mortgage, or rent assistance.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has also offered template letters to help negotiate with creditors during the furlough.
