CCPD says on Tuesday, around 6:15 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in reference to a two vehicle and pedestrian traffic crash at the 800 block of Cape Coral Pkwy E.

According to CCPD, an 88-year old woman was walking across the street when Andrea Paredes, 24, was attempting to make a U-turn from the inside east bound lane.

The front of Paredes car hit the woman and pinned her against the back of a car that was stopped in traffic going west. Paredes then fled the scene of the crash.

A witness to the crash watched as Paredes drove off, and quickly followed behind relaying information of her location to police.

The witness was eventually able to block in Paredes on Country Club Boulevard just south of Veterans Pkwy. Seconds after blocking the vehicle in Police arrived on scene.

Paredes was placed under arrest and was charged with Failing to stop or remain at a crash scene involving injury, Failing to stop or remain at a crash scene involving property damage, and Driving while license suspended with knowledge.

Paredes was later transferred to Lee County Jail.
