Victim identified in December I-75 fatal shooting, homicide investigation opened

The person shot on Interstate 75 near Alico Road in December has died, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office says.

The victim, Ronald Green, 30, was transported to the hospital with “significant injuries” on Dec. 16 after being struck by gunfire on the interstate. It is now a homicide investigation, the sheriff’s office says.

It is still unclear at this time how many others were involved, if the victim was targeted, or if there is a suspect or suspects on the loose.

The investigation closed the interstate for hours two days in a row.

Detectives are asking the public’s help in regards to the shooting. All callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
