Photo courtesy of Charlotte County Fire and EMS Facebook page. Charlotte County Fire and EMS responded to a plane that made a crash landing in a neighborhood north of Punta Gorda Thursday afternoon. Authorities say that the pilot was the only person on board the plane at the time it crashed near the corner of Papaya Drive near Sailfish Court. The pilot was not injured. The pilot was headed toward Runway 15 at Punta Gorda, the FAA said. Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene and will be helping until the FAA arrives to take over the investigation. Charlotte County Fire confirms that the pilot reported he may not have had enough fuel to land at the airport. This is a developing story.
