FMPD releases few details as it investigates two dead in Fort Myers home

Brittany Barney is worried about her neighbors after seeing crime scene tape going up.

“There was an elderly woman that lived there — so I figured something may have happened to her,” Barney said. “It’s kinda close. We’re right across the street. I walk outside and see their house every single day.”

Police said they found two bodies inside this Fort Myers home.

“When I saw the crime scene tape, I thought maybe something happened,” Barney said.

“And the fact that’s two bodies?” John Carlos said, a WINK News reporter.

“Omgosh, I didn’t know it was two,” Barney said. “Holy cow. All I hear was that it was one. That’s scary!”

People nearby said, a mother and her son lived at the house and they have not seen them for days.

“It’s very shocking,” Mark Carter said. “I asked people if I can cut their grass and nobody came to the door yesterday and I saw the truck like that.”

Fort Myers Police has not released many details. But it said the public is not in danger.

Neighbors are not so sure.

“Knowing that something’s been going on or people have been deceased in there,” Barney said. “It’s kinda scary. I’ve got five kids. It’s kinda scary to know that happened across the street.”
