A homicide investigation is underway in Lehigh Acres Monday morning after a woman was shot and killed.

According to Lee County Sheriff Marceno deputies responded to the 2000 block of Quentin Avenue South near Lee Boulevard for a reported shooting.

Marceno says a female was found dead at the scene and they are considering the death a homicide.

LCSO has confirmed the victim is Trenesa Roberts, 39.

“About 2:30 in the morning there was some loud screaming and fighting.” said Asia, a neighbor who didn’t want to share her last name. “I was letting someone out of my garage so we heard the noise. We walked down to the stop sign and there was a group of people outside arguing, screaming… then this morning we wake up to somebody got murdered.”

People living in the Lehigh Acres neighborhood say there was a commotion in the middle of the night.

The commotion that may have ended with a woman shot and killed.

The early morning gunfire waking up Cynthia Dukes just one street over, “I was in my bed and I hear you know some shooting… about three or four times.”

She says she was too scared to look out her window to see what disturbed her usually quiet neighborhood.

“I said something is wrong. I would’ve never thought it was that.” Dukes said.

LCSO says Roberts was found dead in a driveway around 6:30 this morning.

Crime scene tape and investigators blocking off the neighborhood streets all day.

Few details from investigators and a killer on the run now leave neighbors on edge, wondering what happened so close to home.

No word yet on any possible suspect description from the sheriff’s office.
