The Fort Myers city managers office released a memo Friday saying that they now intend to ship the toxic sludge to Clark Environmental, Inc. in Mulberry.

Clark Environmental says it will be taking all 30,000 tons of the sludge.

The sludge will not be recycled, it will be blended with sawdust and Portland cement as deemed necessary and will be turned into material suitable for landfill disposal, according to the city’s memo.

Parties involved are hopeful that transport of the sludge will begin Monday, but the are waiting for the contract to be finalized.
