Drivers on Del Prado Blvd. have one thing in common.

“I think in season Del Prado is like a race track,” Jim Michalski said.

“Very busy,” Ken Iser said.

“It’s really bad during season,” Khayla Insixiengmay said.

It is bad, busy and dangerous.

“I ride motorcycles,” Iser said. “We try to stay off that as much as possible.”

But two new construction projects could make traffic on this busy Cape Coral road even worse.

“Yeah that’s going to be crazy,” Insixiengmay said.

Starting in just a few weeks, crews will resurface and add improvements along Del Prado Blvd. from Veterans Parkway to Coral Point Dr.

But that is not all.

The two bridges leading into Cape Coral are also set to get some work.

“I think that’s absolutely just crazy,” Michalski said.

Construction crews will be doing concrete repairs, cleaning and recoating sections of the Cape Coral and Midpoint Bridges.

Each project will cost in excess of $700,000. But it is not the high price tag that is worrying drivers WINK News spoke with.

“That’s gonna be hard,” Insixiengmay said. “It’s gonna be even more difficult I feel like to drive up and down Del Prado once they start working on it.”

“Why don’t they do this off-season?” Michalski said. “When the traffic flow is less, there’s less people around. We’re just asking for problems here.”
