Cape Coral City Council meet to discuss plans on how to handle booming population

Cape Coral’s City Council meet on Monday to discuss how to handle the booming population, and what the plan is for developing more housing.

City officials believe Pine Island Road is a good area for people to live, with access to store and offices nearby.

Right now, it is required to have 20 acres of land to build any residential development, like an apartment building, and it can be difficult acquiring that amount of land, City Council acknowledges.

The new plan presented, would cut down the minimum size to just 4 acres, to help fast track the developments to get them completed.

Nearby residents are concerned the development will bring more people to an already overpopulated area, “I am concerned yeah that it’s going to bring in a lot more people the cape is already so so busy,” said Lauren Biser of Cape Coral.

The meeting planned for Monday is to tell Council about the proposed changes and to receive feedback.
