Teen caught red handed breaking into a home off McGregor

Fort Myers Police arrest a teen for allegedly breaking into a home on Alhambra Drive and stealing jewelry and other items Thursday.

FMPD says they were contacted by a resident of Alhambra Drive around 1 p.m. on November 15. The neighbor said a young male with a bicycle was seen looking through the front door of a house, then hiding his bike in bushes on the side before going into the fenced back yard.

When officers arrived the neighbor said the suspect was still in the backyard. Officers then heard a crash from the back of the house and found the back slider had been shattered.

The suspect ran away on, but ultimately caught and arrested by officers.

Officers found jewelry and other items in the 16-year-old suspects possession which had allegedly been taken from the residence.

Officers discovered the suspect had smashed in the rear slider door with a brick.

The teen was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling, Grand Theft Larceny, Property Damage, Criminal Mischief and Resisting an Officer Without Violence, then transported to the to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
