City council not happy with developer’s plans for City of Palms ParkFriends grieving for 15-year-old shot during attempted robbery
The Harry Chapin Food Bank is short on Thanksgiving turkeys they want to provide to families in need. The food bank says they want to distribute 3,000 turkeys, but still need more than 1500 to meet their goal. Besides the birds, the food bank has also purchased $35,000 in gift cards, at $10 each, to distribute to families via our partner agencies. The cards are designated for the purchase of food at local supermarkets for holiday meals. These gift cards are often more economical and efficient for clients, because they can purchase their turkeys, chickens or other Thanksgiving food at the sale prices offered by the stores, making their dollar stretch further. Those who wish to donate turkeys or chickens can drop them off at the food bank’s Fort Myers Distribution Center or the new Collier County Center in Naples from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For information or questions, call 239-334-7007. They will collect these birds until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
