The Lee County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people for cocaine possession after finding the drugs in their car during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

Deputies pulled over a 2011 Chevrolet sedan on the north east corner of the intersection of Broadway Street and Palm Beach Boulevard just before noon.

The passenger in the front seat got out of the car and ran with a small handbag when the driver pulled to a stop. Deputies found him nearby in a wooded area.

A K9 unit located narcotics in the car, and detectives found 516 grams of cocaine during their investigation.

Lashawn Mitchell Williams, 39, the passenger and Ladeidre Lashay Williams, 28, who was driving the car, were both arrested for trafficking cocaine and cocaine possession with intent to sell.
