A teen from Cape Coral was arrested after video recorded him stealing from the home of his family members, as well as breaking into cars at a nearby restaurant.

Cape Coral Police say they were called to a home for a burglary at 1100 bock of SE 33rd Terrace around 7:45 pm.

The victim reported that their house had been broken into and a .357 revolver along with some Halloween candy was taken.

The victim’s surveillance video showed that the 15-year old suspect was a family member that does not live with them.

As the investigation was going on at the home, another call came in for service of vehicle burglaries at the Hooter’s which was nearby.

Officers were able to quickly establish a perimeter around the area, blocking the suspect in, who was hiding nearby in some bushes.

The suspect fled on foot, but was eventually caught. Police found 2 handguns he stole, one from the original home, and one from a car he broke in to.

He was charged with Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, 2-counts of Grand Theft Firearm, Petit Theft, 4-counts of Vehicle Burglary, and Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence. He was later transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
