Governor-elect Ron DeSantis will meet with the Florida Council of 100 in Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday.

The Florida Council of 100 is a private, non-profit organization, which consists of Florida business, civic and academics who advise the state’s governor.

DeSantis is expected to talk about his recent election victory and the next steps he is prepared to make moving towards the future. On Tuesday, DeSantis defeated Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who was the Democratic candidate for governor.

However, as the ballots continued to be counted past the midterm election, the Florida Division of Elections announced a recount on Thursday. A mandatory recount is conducted in Florida when the margin of difference in an election race is 0.50 percent or less.

As of 7:30 p.m., the margin of difference in the collected ballots is 0.44 percent. In a statement earlier on Thursday, Gillum’s campaign said it wants to make sure that every vote is counted.
